On October 3, 2009 Vasque, Great Outdoor Provision Co. and Off-n-Running welcomed a terrific field of runners to this year’s Triple Lakes Race Series held in Greensboro, NC. Among those entries was Vasque athlete Shiloh Mielke, a former athlete at Northern Arizona University who edged out Kyle Luth, Winston-Salem, to win the Triple Lakes Half-Marathon with a time of 1:33:10. Mielke had to focus to stay upright on the rocky and root-filled terrain along Greensboro’s Watershed Trail system.
“I felt great and took the lead about 10 minutes into the race,†says Mielke. “Around mile 8 I noticed second place gaining momentum so I put in a surge and pushed hard to the finish.”
More than 350 other racers joined Mielke in finishing the half-marathon, marathon and 40-mile distance races under sunny skies.
Great Outdoor Provision Co. appreciates Vasque’s selection of The Triple Lakes Trail Run as part of the Vasque Project series for their community stewardship and success in donating over $30,000 to local charities and the park system since 2003. Vasque, Great Outdoor Provision Co. and Off-n-Running are working together to help build and maintain local trail access thru Friends of the Mountains to Sea Trail.
