Portland, OR – December 6, 2017

Portland, OR – Green Theme International™ (GTI), the creators of sustainable and water-free textile technologies—poised to transform finished fabrics in the technical apparel and fashion industries worldwide—is officially launching global operations with top outdoor industry brands beginning in 2018. After five years of research and testing, GTI has developed an entirely new technology, which eliminates water usage and harmful chemical discharges from traditional DWR (Durable Water Repellency) finishing processes. GTI’s long-awaited technology completely eliminates harmful PFC’s and outperforms existing C6, C8 and PFC-free DWR’s.
AQUAVENT™ | PROVEN BETTER PERFORMANCE
GTI’s first product, aptly named Aquavent™, creates a Breathable Water Protection™ for fabrics. Traditional DWR fabric finishes are washed onto the surface of the fabric with water and easily wash off in the rain or laundry. Aquavent’s patented process of heat and pressure hyper-fuse water protection to the fibers inside each yarn that won’t wash out over time. This new technology adds water repellency to fabrics like wool suiting and running/exercise knits that normally don’t repel the rain.
“Aquavent is going to change the way people stay dry and comfortable. It’s more durable and has far better water repellency than what’s currently being offered,” explains Mike Costa, Vice President of GTI Global Sales. “Our rigorous Bundesmann testing data shows that Aquavent is clearly outpacing the current competition,” he adds.
“Aquavent is creating a whole new definition of water protection and may altogether replace traditional DWR treatments which don’t perform and which are harmful to the environment,” adds Costa.
GTI WATER FREE | AGENTS OF CHANGE
With a projected global clothes-wearing population of 8.5 billion by 2030, GTI has identified an escalating environmental crisis in textile and fabric production that is well underway.
“The cause of so much polluted water on our planet is hanging in our closets,” explains Martin Flora, GTI’s co-founder and CEO, who formed the company with a mission-aligned team in 2016. Flora spent years working as a designer in the fashion and outdoor sporting goods industries observing the growing environmental concern.
“The textile industry has quietly been polluting trillions of liters of water every year, making it the second largest water polluter in the world,” says Flora. “We’re currently not manufacturing textiles responsibly or sustainably. GTI’s clear mandate is to be a change agent inside the industry’s practices, adopting clean and water-free manufacturing technology.”
GTI AWARDED $100K+ FOR INTEGRATED SOCIAL & ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
On October 20, GTI received the 2017 Bend Ventures Social Impact Investment award. The award is given to for-profit companies with an integrated social or environmental mission with significant impact. The award of $110,000 is funded through the Oregon-based Bend Ventures Conference, which helps finance promising business start-ups.
“This award will allow us to continue our work of eliminating the source of water pollution in communities worldwide, leading to cleaner and less toxic planet,” adds Flora.
