Gregory Mountain Products took top honors in the 2006 Backpacker Magazine Buyer’s Guide, which singled out Gregory’s new Iso as this year’s best ultralight daypack and its new 70-liter Baltoro as the best in the weeklong-pack category. Gregory’s lightweight G Pack also was chosen – a year after winning a Backpacker Editor’s Choice Award – as one of the top weekend ultralight packs.
The Iso is “… now the most used piece of gear in my closet,†said Jonathan Dorn, Backpacker Editor-In-Chief.
Along with its light weight, editors singled out the Iso’s organization capabilities and back-panel breathability. With the Baltoro, they cited its ability to carry heavy loads, its convenient organization capability and its ability to achieve a customized fit.
As for the G Pack, Backpacker concluded: “We hate repeating ourselves, but almost a year after this pack won an Editor’s Choice Award, it’s still our top pack for cutting significant weight without compromising comfort.”
“Heading into a new year with a new line of packs, this is what we like to hear – that a core industry publication like Backpacker thinks we’ve hit the mark with two of our newest packs,†said Paul Gagner, Gregory’s vice president of sales and marketing.
The Backpacker Buyer’s Guide hit newsstands in mid-January.
