Ground Athletes Take Both US and World Freeskiing Titles

April 18,2008 – Ground (www.groundwear.com) athletes take both the US Extreme Freeskiing Championship and the World Extreme Freeskiing Championship. The US and World Champion titles are the two most coveted achievements in freeskiing.

Brett Crabtree clinched the 2008 Subaru US Extreme Freeskiing Championships in Crested Butte, Colorado on February 24, 2008. Brett’s clean skiing, big drops and perfect landings earned him the win and the title of US Champion. The Extension Jacket and Bib by Ground are Brett’s top picks. Made from both eVENT and Schoeller C-Change the Extension , “kept me warm and dry… no matter how much I sweat,” commented Crabtree.

The 2008 Subaru World Championship title now belongs to Ground Athlete Kent Hyden.
On April 12, 2008 Kent skied his way to victory in Girdwood Alaska. Kent’s choice of a hard charging line combined with four perfect, hesitationless cliff drops cinched the deal.
Kent has spent much of the season trying to abuse his Ground Evermore Parka and Extension Bibs. According to Kent, “these things are bombproof, the Evermore Parka has kept me warm on the coldest of days, the World Championship in Alaska was no different. The bibs give me a ton of coverage, let the sweat out and offer all the stretch I need when hitting the big lines.”

Ground’s President, Tucker Hacking, said, “We are incredibly proud of both of these guys. Brett and Kent have not had the easiest of seasons but were able to pull off the big wins. We are honored to have them as part of the team.”
