Berkeley, Calif. (Nov. 2, 2011) – Haiku by Sharon Eisenhauer, Inc., makers of poetically functional bags and accessories for women, has been named one of the Bay Area’s Top 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies of 2011 by the San Francisco Business Times. Haiku was honored for its rapid growth and consistent revenues at an awards reception at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square on October 27.

This year marks the 20th year that the San Francisco Business Times has published the region’s 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies, and the second year that Haiku has made the list. Haiku ranked #31 in the East Bay and #70 in the Bay Area. Haiku saw 58% growth over 2008, and gross revenue of $1.525 million.

From marketing firms and social commerce companies, to organic baby food manufacturers and healthy school lunch promoters, the list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs. To qualify for the 2011 list, the companies had to be privately held and headquartered in the five Bay Area Counties covered by the San Francisco Business Times, plus Palo Alto. Companies were ranked by percentage revenue growth increase between 2008 and 2010.

“We are fascinated by the stories of companies that are innovating and thriving in our region – driving job growth and fueling the economy when we need it most,” said San Francisco Business Times publisher, Mary Huss. “These are inspiring companies that have valued business lessons and best practices to share with our readers.”

Haiku is a perfect example of one of these companies, with its socially and environmentally responsible practices and commitment to creating awareness and positive change. Launched in 2004, Haiku is now available in close to 500 doors nationwide and has experienced double-digit growth over the last several years.
