BOZEMAN, Montana – With birds starting south, trees dropping leaves and the first snows in the mountains, it’s clear that autumn is here. For anglers who use the autumn days for fishing, Simms Fishing Products has a full line of new autumn gear designed to keep them warm, dry, comfortable and fishing, regardless of how nasty the conditions turn.
Two new jackets, stylish layering pieces, new wading boots designed specifically for salt water and a new selection of thermal hats highlight Simms’ 2012 autumn line. And don’t think of them as designed just for fall fishing – these ultra warm pieces will be perfect for anglers who head to the water even in the dead of winter.
Highlighting Simms’ autumn collection are the Fall Run and Bulkley Jackets – new outerwear pieces substantially different than jackets offered before by Simms. The Fall Run ($149.95) features lightweight, packable performance in the form of PrimaLoft® One insulation, and the Bulkley ($279.95) takes that all-weather PrimaLoft One® insulation one step further with a 2-layer GORE-TEX® shell on the outside to ward off rain, sleet and melting snow.
Speaking of something different, Simms’ OceanTek™ boots – the first saltwater specific wading boots made by Simms – fit the bill. Intended to be used with waders, the boots feature a non-marking Vibram® outsole, corrosion resistant eyelets and a full rubber rand for added durability and protection, the OceanTeks ($199.95) are perfect for coastal angels.
The Coldweather ($99.95) and Kenai shirts are other stars of the fall line. Both designed as fishing shirts, the flannel-lined Coldweather and the stylish Kenai ($84.95) are smart choices for wearing when the temperature begins to plummet.
The new line also features warm undergarments (like RiverTek™ tops and bottoms) and good-looking headgear (the Windstopper™ flap cap and the Rivershed™ beanie among them). It’s a perfect mix of function and fashion – designed specifically for anglers who still head to the water in the colder months.
