San Francisco-based OutsidePR has been hired by Headsweats Perspiration Technology Headwear to conduct a broad-ranged public relations campaign for 2009.
OutsidePR will help expand Headsweats’ brand awareness in consumer, trade and outdoor-oriented media. Kay Martin, the company’s President, cited OutsidePR as an agency with “a thorough understanding of our target markets and a solid groundwork of contacts within the triathlon, running, rowing, and outdoor arenas.†Kay added, “Their experience with the national-level consumer media will be key to our growth as the leading technical headgear brand.â€
OutsidePR president Gordon Wright said, “Hats are elemental gear, yet prior to Headsweats and their products, hats were fairly fungible and a backwater of innovation. Headsweats dominates performance headwear because they created the category. Having worn their products for years, we’re thrilled at the opportunity to represent them.â€
Headsweats was founded in the winter of 1998 by shoe industry veteran and avid cyclist, Alan Romick. For over a decade, Romick and his team at Headsweats have been working unrelentingly to bring the most cutting-edge, innovative and stylish headwear products to new markets.
Based in Cincinnati with an additional office in Boulder, Headsweats is the official headwear supplier to Ironman, Project Velo Racing and the Gore-Tex® TransRockies Run. With an array of styles and functionality, Headsweats creates custom and inline performance hats, visors, winter headwear, beanies and classic caps.
Building upon constant customer feedback and field testing, the washable, supremely wicking hats are used worldwide by runners, cyclists, triathletes and fitness enthusiasts who demand the best gear available.
OutsidePR was formed in San Francisco in 1995 and has conducted media relations and marketing services for such clients as Spyder Active Sports, Primal Quest Adventure Race, Gore-Tex® TransRockies Run, Sugoi Performance Apparel, Injinji Socks, Wilderness Trail Bikes (WTB) and Gu Energy.
