Headsweats, makers of high-performance, ultra-light, supremely wicking hats and visors, is excited to announce their sponsorship of Mike Ehredt, a veteran and retired US Postal worker from Driggs, ID, on his Project America Run. Ehredt will honor fallen troops in Iraq by running across the US from coast to coast, beginning May 1 in Astoria, OR.

“We are truly privileged to be a part of Project America Run,” says Kay Martin, Headsweats’ President. “Mike Ehredt is giving selflessly of himself and we are honored to provide support to make his journey more comfortable.”

At every mile on his route, Ehredt will honor a soldier who died in Iraq by placing an American flag, bearing their name, rank, age, date of death and hometown, along the road. Ehredt has a total of 4387 flags to place before completing Project America Run in Rockland, ME.
Not only will Ehredt wear Headsweats hats and visors for their comfort and superior sun protection, he will provide Headsweats emblazoned with his logo, “One Life, One Flag, One Mile,” to those that help him along his journey.

Ehredt, who plans to run about 29 miles a day while pushing a stroller with his gear and flags, will spend nights with gracious host families, 160 in all. Some families are relatives of the fallen soldiers, others, whom he has never met, are eager to provide support as their way of honoring the troops that served our country.

Ehredt has scheduled speaking appearances with high school and college track and cross country teams near his route. He is also encouraging students to join him on his run so they too can gain an appreciation of sacrifices made in the name of freedom.
