Norwegian sea captain Helly Juell Hansen’s legend began in 1877 off the coast of Norway with his love for the frigid, rough waters of the North Sea. Today, his namesake company is just as passionate about all forms of sailing from dinghy and coastal cruising to inshore and offshore racing.

Helly Hansen invites sailors to pick their preferred category—offshore, inshore, dingy, or cruising—and upload one sailing photograph to Helly Hansen’s website, www.hellyhansen.com/joinourcrew. Photograph captions must include a description of the contestant’s favorite thing about sailing.
The judged categories include dinghy, cruising, inshore, and offshore racing. Helly Hansen will invite each category winner on an all-inclusive trip to Sail Newport in Newport, Rhode Island, USA. The competition will run from March 10th to April 9th.
The four grand winners will receive a Helly Hansen gift bag and join world-class sailor and Helly Hansen ambassador Tim Healy for a once-in-a-lifetime sailing experience along Narragansett Bay. Healy will give winners inside tips on what it takes to be a world-class sailor as well as a tutorial on boat handling, tactics, and sail trim.
Since 1999, Healy has won 17 major titles in the J/24 class as well as multiple Rolex Yachtsman of the Year nominations. In 2014, he won the J/70 World Championship and took third in the J/24 World Championship.
