HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation Welcomes New Executive Director
DENVER, Colo. (September 9, 2009) – HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation has announced the arrival of its new executive director, Danni Lederman. HERA is a national organization and is an acronym for Health, Empowerment, Research and Awareness, focusing on education and awareness of the symptoms of ovarian cancer, promoting early detection, and also supporting cutting-edge ovarian cancer research. Lederman has worked in the non-profit arena for more than 20 years and has extensive experience working in health-related non-profit organizations, most recently serving as executive director in a cancer support organization.
In addition to her non-profit management experience, Lederman is also an adjunct faculty member at Metropolitan State College of Denver, where she currently teaches courses through the Women’s Studies Institute and Services Center. She has also taught in the Non-Profit Certification Program at the college. Lederman has served on the board of directors of Community Shares of Colorado, a workplace giving federation, where she also served on the executive committee and as president of the board. As Lederman notes, “I am very excited to be joining HERA and I believe that HERA has the opportunity to increase awareness about ovarian cancer to such an extent that we will see measurable advancements in the earlier detection, and therefore survival rate, of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Additionally, the support that HERA provides to researchers and doctors doing cutting-edge research on ovarian cancer is making a difference that we believe will translate directly into saving women’s lives. “
