SEATTLE, Wash. (September 12, 2018) – Heroclip, the first-ever hybrid gear clip that lets you hang just about anything, just about anywhere, has officially raised $1.1 million in seed funding. As a crowdfunded and investor-backed company that continues to eclipse growth expectations in the active lifestyle industry, Heroclip sales have more than doubled every year over the last 3 years. This new funding round will significantly accelerate this trend through accelerated ecommerce and wholesale distribution, optimized inventory management and fulfillment, and continued creation of ingenious solutions for everyday adventurers.

Inventor and CEO Mina Yoo, Ph.D., a former professor of entrepreneurship, active parent and co-founder of two previous companies, designed Heroclip for everyday adventurers that need an “extra hand” with their gear. The result is a hybrid gear clip with a built-in hook and 360 degree swivel that helps keep up to 60 lbs of gear tethered, upright, off the ground and within reach. With two utility patents granted and three crowdfunding campaigns that raised $400K from over 7000 backers, Heroclip is now launching two new product sizes in Q4 2018.

“The most important factor in growing Heroclip has been inspiring consumers and investors who understand and create the demand for creative consumer solutions,” said Heroclip Inventor and CEO Mina Yoo, Ph.D. “With the help of our evangelists, advisors and investors, Heroclip is rapidly growing and actively helping everyday explorers achieve more with their daily adventures.”

The new round of funding will allow Heroclip to focus on scaling the business and cementing their processes to deliver upon imminent growth, while also maintaining their scrappy small business mentality. The influx of funding has immediately allowed Heroclip to fill key strategic positions with new talent, beginning with the hire of Mona West, a former Vice President at Cascade Designs and a marketing and product management leader for multiple small to midsize consumer product brands. West recently joined as Chief Growth and Profitability Officer and will lead the Heroclip team in developing and implementing product, sales, and marketing strategies to drive profitable growth. Heroclip also plans to continue expanding partnership opportunities and collaborations with like-minded brands, like Mpowerd, where additional resources will be devoted to co-developing and co-marketing complementary products.

Heroclip’s lineup of backers, advisors and brand advocates now include renowned adventure photographer Chris Burkard, well-established Seattle investors like Dennis Joyce, Shaula Massena and Jim Reed, ecommerce experts like Meredith Han (of Amazon and Brooks Running), outdoor and sports industry veterans like David Bohan and Rob Harris of PMI Worldwide and Oregon Sports Angels, an angel group started by former and current Nike executives, as well as BD Zhang, a manufacturer who invests in lifestyle brands.

“Simply put, Heroclip is one of the most useful tools I have ever come across,” said Chris Burkard, adventure photographer. “Next to my cameras, it is one of the first items that goes into my bag whether it’s a large expedition or a commercial shoot. I can’t imagine a better product to support and put my name behind.”

“I am drawn to companies that have superb leadership, are selling great products, and have a broad appeal. Heroclip has all these qualities and more,” said Dennis Joyce, a Seattle-based Heroclip investor. “Mina Yoo is a dynamo. Not only did she have the vision to invent a new product that is unique, versatile, and incredibly useful, but she has also built a strong team to execute her vision.”

Heroclip can be found on their website (D2C), as well as at a broad range of retailers worldwide including: REI, Ace Hardware, Amazon, Tokyu Hands (Japan) and b8ta, with many more on the way. For more information on Heroclip, please visit www.myheroclip.com
