Located just a short drive or Helicopter charter from San Francisco and Los Angeles, the Hideout is the first of its kind in the region. Deep in California’s Eldorado National Forest and surrounded by thousands of acres of untouched terrain, the renowned Hideout Lodge is pleased to announce its new winter operations for the 2017/18 season, offering the ultimate basecamp for ski touring, snowboarding, and snowmobiling.

Nestled 15 miles from Kirkwood ski resort and a few miles from the nearest road, the Hideout Lodge offers a truly unique experience in one of the Sierra’s most pristine high alpine environments.

“It’s our intention to redefine what it means to be a lodge by offering a perfectly balanced stay that’s not tied to an itinerary. We’ve combined luxury lodge amenities with your choice of diverse backcountry adventures to connect more people with authentic mountain experiences.” said Bobby Lauterjung, owner and operator of the Hideout Lodge.

Based in an extraordinary wilderness setting, the luxurious 5,000 sq. ft. hand-peeled log lodge, can accommodate up to 20 guests and offers endless opportunities.

Daily ski tours around the hut or to famed Sierra Buttes are guided by professional guides certified by the American Mountain Guide Association. Gourmet meals are prepared with local. The Hideout also has its own saloon, hot tub, outdoor sauna, and offers extra-curricular activities like daily yoga and spa massages.

“It’s been our goal to combine the backcountry ski hut experience with something much more refined. By combining with countless choices for backcountry adventure with luxury lodge amenities, the new winter offerings at the Hideout Lodge are sure to deliver an experience that is both memorable and genuine,” added Lauterjung.

With over 700” of snowfall in the 2016/17 season, the Hideout Lodge and the surrounding terrain annually receives some of the most snow in the United States, offering the freshest untracked and unexplored terrain the West has to offer. Remarkably, this experience does not exist in California. Until now.
