Snaplinc Consulting LLC announced today that it is expanding capacity to support brands working on the Higg Index Brand & Retail Module (Higg BRM). With 16 sections, more than 500 questions, a 400 page supporting document and up to 160 hours to complete, the Higg BRM is a big undertaking for most brands.
The Higg BRM has quickly become a benchmark for sustainability. REI, the nation’s leading outdoor retailer, announced that they “will expect each brand partner in the apparel and footwear categories to complete the Higg Index Brand Module annually and share their results with REI.” REI has also stated that the Higg BRM along with other sustainability standards “…are an important lens through which we will approach our relationships going forward.”
Ammi Borenstein, Principal at Snaplinc, says, “Having helped several brands complete the Higg BRM in 2018 we are able to save time and money for our clients through learned efficiencies. We can significantly reduce the impact to the product, sourcing, design and operations teams through our proven process allowing them to focus on core deliverables.”
To support the brands working on the Higg BRM, consulting and outdoor industry veteran, Kristen Harris, has recently partnered with Snaplinc. Kristen brings more than 15 years of experience to help streamline the Higg BRM process. As an experienced consultant, Kristen says “The framework and requirements of the Higg BRM remind me of the work I did when Sarbanes Oxley was new. We required organized, dedicated consultant teams to support our clients.”
Ammi of Snaplinc, says “The brands we helped in 2018 are well positioned to be among the earliest to present their scores to REI. Since they’ve already completed the Higg BRM once, these brands are working on new sustainability initiatives designed to improve their sustainability profile and Higg scores for 2019.” With backgrounds in the outdoor, snowsports, actionsports and tactical industries, Ammi understands how best to support these brands.
The Sustainable Apparel Coalition will open the next version of the Higg BRM from mid-March to mid- June providing approximately 12 weeks for brands to complete it. Kristen says “With an estimated
completion time of up to 160 hours it’s important for brands to get started assembling a team and gathering information by the middle of February.”
With several different levels of engagement Snaplinc Consulting offers Higg Index Brand & Retail Module solutions for outdoor, snowsport and actionsport companies of all sizes and categories.
The Snaplinc Consulting team will be at the Outdoor Retailer Snow Show and are available for brand appointments.
