Outdoor instrument brand Highgear announces today its plans for a celebratory party day one of the 2008 Winter Outdoor Retailer Trade Show.

From 4 to 6 pm on Wednesday, January 23, Highgear will team up with women’s outdoor education leader Babes in the Backcountry to host an unveiling of Highgear’s first women’s altimeter, the Axio Mini. The party will include free wine, several drawings for free booty, and a talk with Babes founder and three-time National Telemark Free Skiing Champion Leslie Ross.

“I’ve been looking forward to this for months,” says Ross. “Any Babe loves a good party, and this one should be a lot of fun. Plus it’s a chance for us to get to know the people we’re here for—the same women we see in the backcountry hunting fresh lines and getting away from it all. It’s also a great chance for me to talk about Babes’ new partnership with Highgear. We’ve looked long and hard for the perfect women’s specific altimeter, and we’ve finally found it in the Mini.”

Redwood Creek Winery will pour the drinks, including complimentary glasses of its very own Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Chardonnay. Pistil Designs of Hood River, OR, will also be in attendance and will give away its exceptionally cute Pistil Betty hats to the first 75 event attendees. There will also be a drawing for a free Babes in the Backcountry trip.

“We are thrilled to be teaming up with Babes in the Backcountry,” says Highgear owner and founder Mike Hosey. “To have their endorsement on our Axio Mini women’s altimeter further solidifies our mission as a brand. Our goal is to provide women with the quality gear they need for their backcountry experience and if our product is ideal for Babes, then it works for outdoor women everywhere.”

Babes in the Backcountry, founded in 1997, is a pioneer of women’s only outdoor education, and strives to continually develop high-quality workshops that not only provide a valuable educational resource for women, but empower and inspire the mind, body, and spirit.

Redwood Creek wines embody the adventurous spirit of California. Winemaker Cal Dennison has crafted a portfolio of seven food-friendly wines to consistently deliver outstanding quality at an attractive price. Redwood Creek wines are available at retailers nationwide at a suggested retail price ranging from $6.99 to $9.99.
The Winter Outdoor Retailer Trade Show runs from Wednesday, January 23, through Saturday, January 26 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City. Highgear can be found at booth 13009.
