Highgear, a leading outdoor equipment brand specializing in altimeters, digital compasses, and unique camping accessories, announces they will host New York City based musician, Don McCloskey, LIVE at their Outdoor Retailer booth (#38173) from 4 – 6 pm on Friday, August 10th to celebrate Everest Rocks, an expedition and concert in support of the Love, Hope, Strength Foundation (LHS). To learn more visit www.lovehopestrength.com.

This special acoustic performance by McCloskey is to bring attention to Everest Rocks, the first-ever multi-artist concert to be held at Everest Base Camp. In October, the 40 member team including Mike Peters of the Alarm, Slim-Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats, Billy Duffy of the Cult, and mountaineering greats Jake Norton, Alan Hobson and Sean Swarner, will trek to Base Camp in the name of cancer research. Funds raised from this historic concert will be donated to the Nepal Cancer Society. A documentary of Everest Rocks is being filmed by the BBC and MTV.

Those not familiar with McCloskey are in for a treat. His music is infectious, his prose poetic. He got his start in Philadelphia and now plays regularly to sell-out crowds throughout the Big Apple. A sampling of McCloskey’s new album, Northern Liberties, can be heard on his web site www.enormousd.com

Event attendees will have an opportunity to learn more about the expedition as well as the athletes, musicians, and cancer survivors involved. High altitude climber and photojournalist Jake Norton will provide a brief snapshot of his involvement within the expedition. Sean Swarner, the first cancer survivor to complete the seven summits, will also be on-hand. Additionally, music fans that visit the Highgear booth during the acoustic performance will have the opportunity to win an ‘Everest Rocks’ guitar donated by expedition co-sponsor, Gibson Guitars. Drinks provided by the Coors Brewing Company.

Love, Hope, Strength tee-shirts and wristbands will be available for purchase at the Highgear booth during the party, proceeds to support the LHS foundation and cancer research.
