Hilleberg the Tentmaker, a family-owned company that manufactures high quality, lightweight tents for all seasons, has been awarded Field & Stream Magazine’s 2008 Best of the Best Award in the hunting miscellaneous category for the company’s ultralight 2-person Allak tent. It is featured in the September 2008 issue, currently out on newsstands.
The Best of the Best judging criteria include the significance of the innovation, the quality of design, and the value it brings to hunters. Criteria varied, depending upon the category, but all winning products shared one quality: excellence in their field.
“The Allak faced stiff competition in its category, but the judges ultimately decided that it was the most innovative and best-designed product in its class,†said Jay Cassell, Deputy Editor for Field and Stream. “Having the right gear is a huge part of hunting, and the Field and Stream Best of the Best Awards are our way of vetting and recognizing the best stuff out there.”
“We are very pleased to receive such a prestigious award from Field and Stream, which is one of the most widely read and highly respected outdoor publications,†said Petra Hilleberg, President of Hilleberg USA. “The Allak was introduced just this year, and has quickly become one of our best selling models. Being judged one of Field & Stream’s “Best of the Best†is a wonderful honor for us.â€
The Hilleberg Allak is an ultralight all-season dome tent whose three-pole design is completely freestanding and includes integrated vestibules. It’s sturdy enough for use in both exposed and/or above tree line terrain as well as protected conditions. With two doors and two vestibules, the Allak offers tremendous convenience and comfort. At the same time it incorporates the ultralight yet strong Kerlon 1200 fabric and 9 mm poles, producing a superior two-person tent that weighs just 5 lbs. 7 oz.
