Redmond, WA – Hilleberg the Tentmaker’s 2006/2007 product catalog, The Tent Handbook, has received two Awards of Excellence from the prestigious Communicator Awards. Recognized both for overall design in the Brochure/Catalog category as well as for writing in the Writing/Brochure category, The Tent Handbook was a true international project. Produced in three languages, The Tent Handbook was designed and written, in English, by Stuart Craig and Synergy Work Concepts of Redmond, WA. It was translated into Swedish and German at the Hilleberg offices in Frösön, Sweden, and printed in Estonia.
“This is by far our most ambitious catalog,†says Petra Hilleberg, president of Hilleberg’s US operations. “It does an outstanding job of putting our products into the context of our company’s – and our family’s – history and experience.†The 64 page catalog showcases the company’s 25 tent models and other products, but it also delves deeply into the Hilleberg the Tentmaker’s history as well as into the philosophy behind their award-winning quality and attention to detail. “This is the best catalog we’ve ever produced,†says Bo Hilleberg, founder of Hilleberg the Tentmaker and Chairman of the company. “Stuart Craig’s design and writing in the English version – which served as the basis for the other language editions – completely captures the history, spirit, and quality of Hilleberg tents. It is truly a “handbook,†rather than a mere “catalog.â€
The Communicator Awards are presented annually in Print, Audio, and Video categories, and they recognize three levels of achievement, Excellence, Distinction, and Honorable Mention. Of the 5214 entries in 2005 – entries from both the US and from several foreign countries – only 14 percent were accorded the highest honor, the Award of Excellence. Entries are graded by respected, highly experienced communication experts, and are judged against a standard of accomplishment, rather than against each other.
For over three decades, Hilleberg has been making the highest quality four-season tents with the ideal balance of low weight, strength and comfort. Founded by Bo Hilleberg and run by the Hilleberg family in Frösön, Sweden, the company has its own ISO-9000-certified manufacturing facility in Estonia, where every tent is sewn, checked, then completely set up before being shipped.
