Horny Toad is pleased to announce the opening of brand ambassador R.Nelson Parrish’s art exhibit at the Kimball Art Center in Park City, UT. Parrish, a former ski racer, combines his love of both sport and art in this installation, entitled COLOR/FAST, that will run from June 2, 2012 to July 29th, 2012.

“You don’t need to talk to R. Nelson Parrish for very long to discover that he loves two things in life: barreling down mountainsides at breakneck speeds and making paintings that capture those magical moments when our perceptions of the world are especially vivid”, says David Pagel, Chair of the Art Department at Claremont Graduate University and LA Times contributor.

A former skier-turned-artist, Parrish’s unique style combines fiberglass, wood, and bio-resin to help bring to life to experiences of high-adrenalin sports. The instillation at the Kimball Art Center will be two fold: a series of his trademark work as well as a series of videos shot by Parrish’s athlete-friends skiing, mountain biking, and surfing shot through the perspective of the equipment they use. While at first thought juxtaposed, there are a lot of parallels between these two bodies of work. As Pagel said, “Each contains worlds within worlds, expansive universes that are different each time you enter them”.

Earlier this year, Horny Toad launched their Influencer Program which is comprised of artists, adventurers, musicians, and filmmakers who exemplify Horny Toad’s mission to live each day as if it were an adventure and finding ways to giving back locally and globally. “Horny Toad is excited to have Parrish as part of this team and support the opening of this new exhibit,” says Horny Toad marketing manager Blair Brown. “Parrish relishes in the natural elements and beauty of his surroundings; an aspect that is a focal point in his art. Because of this, he recognizes the importance of exploring sustainable solutions; something Horny Toad continues to pioneer with the ever-growing introduction of organic and recycled fabrics into their collection of apparel and accessories.”
