Hyperlite Mountain Gear to Support Ambassador’s Fundraising Efforts for a Remote, Earthquake-Ravaged Village in Nepal

Hyperlite Mountain Gear will donate products and marketing assistance to its Ambassador Bud Martin and Nicholas Frazee to support their fundraising efforts to help rebuild Beding, a remote, earthquake-ravaged village in the Rolwaling Valley.

“Despite waning media coverage, the tragedy in Nepal continues,” stated Hyperlite Mountain Gear Marketing Manager Lizzy Scully. “In fact, Bud and Nick have told us that most villagers from Beding are still without homes even as winter approaches. Not only are we proud to boost the fundraising efforts of these conscientious climbers, but we also hope to keep the momentum going to help raise awareness for the people of Nepal.”

Martin and Frazee spent six weeks in 2014 forming “deep connections” with the locals of Beding while putting up first ascents of ice climbing routes.

“These people feel like our friends and family,” Martin stated. “Plus, nearly all the young folks have moved away to seek work in more touristic locations, leaving the village without a strong labor force. Both Nick and I had separate plans to go back and help out. When we realized this, we decided to combine forces and go as big as we could.”

One-hundred percent of the $50,000 they hope to raise will go directly toward paying for construction materials, laborers brought in from Kathmandu and for hiring porters to carry building materials.
