White River Junction, Vt. (July 22, 2010) – Ibex Outdoor Clothing, designers of year-round merino wool and organic cotton apparel for men and women, is excited to announce the appointment of Sam Lothrop as the company’s men’s designer. As part of his new role, Lothrop will be tasked with designing and developing men’s outerwear, base layers, accessories, riding gear, and fabrics. Lothrop is a welcome addition to the Ibex family, a brand that is known for offering apparel for the “every day adventurer.”
Lothrop has eclectic and technical design skills combined with personal outdoor accomplishments, including 24 years of skiing and snowboarding experience. Lothrop previously held the position of design director at Moncler Gamme Bleu in Milan, Italy. The styles that he designed contributed to Moncler generating sales that were three times higher than yearly projections. Additionally, Lothrop designed styles and concepts for the first Brooks Brothers Black Fleece collection, Moonstone and Thom Browne.
Lothrop, who assumed the men’s designer role on June 7th, began at Ibex in April 2010 as a freelance designer, where he aided in the creation of the brand’s men’s 2011 fall line.
With the goal of increasing the performance and aesthetic qualities of Ibex products, while staying true to, yet advancing the company’s identity, Lothrop will be responsible for managing the development of the brand’s men’s styles.
“I’m excited to elevate the brand’s designs, while working with the high-quality merino wool fabrics that the brand’s loyal customers love,” said Sam Lothrop. “I look forward to continued success with Ibex, as well as upholding the high level of superior natural performance apparel that the Ibex team has set as a standard.”
Lothrop’s appointment is part of larger changes within Ibex Outdoor Clothing, which are intended to maximize the company’s continued growth. The brand also plans to open brick-and-mortar stores, with the first debuting in Boston in September 2010.
