ICAA chooses Patrick Hald to focus on business development
The active-aging industry continues to grow as retirement communities, seniors and recreation centers, and wellness centers add services to enhance the physical and mental health of older adults. To continue to offer high-level support to these active-aging organizations, the International Council on Active Aging® (ICAA), the association for wellness and fitness facilities and services for adults over 50, has hired Patrick J. Hald to lead the association’s business development.

[Vancouver, BC. August 25, 2009]. The active-aging industry continues to grow as retirement communities, seniors and recreation centers, and wellness centers add services to enhance the physical and mental health of older adults. To continue to offer high-level support to these active-aging organizations, the International Council on Active Aging® (ICAA), the association for wellness and fitness facilities and services for adults over 50, has hired Patrick J. Hald to lead the association’s business development.
“I am excited to join the ICAA in their mission to unite the efforts of the organizations focused on older adults to benefit both the people they serve and the organizations themselves,” said Hald. In his role as president, Hald is responsible for the ICAA 100 membership, Preferred Vendors program, sponsorships, advertising and future business development.
Patrick is bringing many years of experience in organizational leadership, product management, and sales to the active-aging industry. As the president and COO of FreeMotion Fitness, Inc., Hald oversaw marketing, sales and education while leading the organization’s strategic development. His prior experience was gained as a manufacturing and project engineer, product manager, account manager and director of development teams.
ICAA’s CEO and founder, Colin Milner, will focus his energies on the ICAA 2020 initiative to create a vision for the active-aging industry. As part of that role, Milner will continue to join government and private panels developing the needs and action plans for the global population of aging adults and blend the global issues of aging with ICAA’s industry initiatives, work groups and meetings.
“Patrick brings a valuable blend of experience and knowledge to ICAA,” points out Milner. “This will enable us to reach out to even more aging services providers and seniors housing organizations at the same time we expand our ability to link them with the tools and services they need to support their missions.”
Milner notes that, based on the recent ICAA Economy Survey plus reports from other associations, the economy has not disadvantaged seniors housing or public services in the way it has other business sectors. Most organizations are holding steady and planning for growth in their wellness programs and wellness facilities in the next 12 months.
