Icebreaker, the New Zealand based manufacturer of pure merino nature clothing, is joining forces with Sun Valley Heli Ski Guides as the official outfitter of performance layering for the company’s professional guides. Sun Valley Heli Ski Guides has been bringing skiers into untracked Sawtooth powder since 1966, and celebrates its 40th anniversary this winter season.
“Sun Valley Heli Ski Guides is a crew of seasoned, performance demanding professionals, and heli skiing itself is really the premium expression of alpine skiing and snowboardingâ€, said Troy Ballard, US market manager for Icebreaker. “As Icebreaker continues to gain traction in the snow sports and outdoor markets, this partnership exemplifies many aspects of the Icebreaker brand, namely performance in a layering system. These pros have a choice in what to wear out there day after day, and they have chosen Icebreaker. Icebreaker is confident that our products can meet the performance layering needs of skiers and snowboarders nationwide.â€
“I can’t think of a better realm for testing a performance product like Icebreaker, than with heli ski guides,†said Sigi Vogl, marketing director of Sun Valley Heli Ski Guides. “We’re out there every day working with temperature extremes, constantly heating up and cooling down. We face unpredictable weather and quite simply, what we wear and the gear we use has to perform. Some of us were already familiar with the benefits of merino, but Icebreaker amazed us with its comfort and performance. It’s perfect for a full day of skiing, and we’re happy to have them as an official sponsorâ€.
Icebreaker was the first company in the world to develop a merino wool layering system for the outdoors, and launched the category in 1994.
