US Ski Team Athlete to appear at Vail TouchLab on Dec. 5
Icebreaker Merino, the pioneering New Zealand brand that introduced merino wool apparel to the outdoor industry, today announced an exciting three-year partnership with US ski team athlete, Travis Ganong. As an athlete ambassador, Ganong will represent Icebreaker in the U.S. and provide key insights for future product design.
The 26-year-old world-class skier competed for the U.S. at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, placing fifth in the men’s downhill. He won his first World Cup race in December 2014 in downhill in Italy. From there, Ganong went on to place second at Vail/Beaver Creek World Championships and ended up a career best ninth ranked in the downhill standings.
To celebrate the new partnership Travis will make an appearance at the Icebreaker Vail TouchLab on Saturday, December 5, from 5 PM to 7 PM. This will follow his World Cup appearance in Beaver Creek.
“We welcome Travis to the Icebreaker Flock. His passion and connection to the outdoors ties in brilliantly with our brand’s core value to inspire adventures in nature,” said Yiorgos Makris, Head of Marketing for Icebreaker USA. “Travis leads an active outdoor lifestyle which demands technical and versatile products suited for skiing big mountain lines in Alaska, hiking in the sierras, or grinding out climbs on his mountain bike as much as he needs it to perform when racing at 80 mph. Icebreaker couldn’t be prouder to supply him with our versatile, high-performance merino apparel.”
Ganong said, “I’m really excited to be joining the Icebreaker family. Throughout the year, I spend all of my time in the mountains skiing, biking, hiking and climbing, so Icebreaker merino fits my lifestyle perfectly.
He added, “I’ve spent a month in New Zealand for the past ten summers. I love the people, the culture and the country. Being able to wear gear that originates from nature in their stunning Southern Alps is a huge honor.”
Icebreaker merino clothing for the outdoors, technical sports and lifestyle includes underwear, mid layer garments, outerwear, socks and accessories for men, women and children.
