Wellington, New Zealand (November 2012) – Whatever the sport, Icebreaker has it covered this winter with a host of new styles that combine the natural benefits of premium wool with high-tech weather protection.
The New Zealand-based merino specialist is refreshing its Icebreaker GT technical sports range with hi-energy winter colours, and launching new garments that use nanotechnology and soft shell construction to ward off rain and wind.
Debuting in Fall/Winter 2013 are two water-resistant technical tops for trans-season running, cycling and other outdoor sports. The Dart LS Half Zip for women and Drive LS Half Zip for men contain tiny nano particles with a ridged surface that reduces contact area, allowing water, mud and oil to simply run off.
The Dart and Drive also feature Icebreaker’s Free Seam – a seam that is smooth against the skin to prevent chafing – and breathable eyelet panels. Both can be worn solo or under another layer.
The sporty and stylish Quantum+ Hood for men and women is an upgraded version of Icebreaker’s best-selling hoody, with nanotechnology for water resistance.
Icebreaker’s nanotechnology is accredited by bluesign®, an independent global standard for low-pollutant textiles, environmentally-friendly production and responsible management of resources.
Hot new colours in Icebreaker GT include fiery red Heat, mid blue Force and earthy Walnut for men, with vibrant Magenta, cool blue Glacier and warm Peach for women.
Icebreaker GT styles have technical features to improve performance, including breathable eyelet panels, friction-free seams, stash pockets, and drop tail hems to improve coverage and prevent ride-up.
Fall/Winter 2013’s new innovations will give sportspeople the freedom to reconnect with nature this winter in warmth and comfort, says Rob Achten, Icebreaker Creative Director and Vice President of Product. “We’re excited to be able to offer technical garments with superb functional details, extra protection against the elements and a wider range of dynamic seasonal colours,” he says.
