Auckland, New Zealand (August 2014) – Merino pioneer Icebreaker pushes the boundaries of fabric innovation, design and functionality in its Spring/Summer 2015 collection.

New Icebreaker Cool-lite™ fabric – which combines the benefits of premium merino wool and sustainably-produced wood – debuts in summer tops and performance sports apparel. Icebreaker expands its popular collection of woven merino layers for travel and the outdoors, and launches stunning nature-inspired prints from Icebreaker guest artists.

Mark Koppes, Icebreaker Vice President of Product, says the Spring/Summer 2015 collection will excite Icebreaker enthusiasts and encourage more people to discover the comfort and performance benefits of the world’s best merino for hike, travel, performance sport and yoga.

“Icebreaker merino is a premium product from a renewable resource, and this season we’ve found ways to use this incredible fiber that just wouldn’t have been possible even a few years ago,” he says. “We’re pushing limits on every front, from combining merino with other natural fibers to using new technology to print artists’ designs onto our tees.”

Highlights of Icebreaker’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection include:

  • Icebreaker Cool-lite™ fabric for the new Sphere range of summer tanks, tops, hoodies and wraps for travel and lifestyle, and IcebreakerGT Cool-lite™ fabric for the new Spark and Strike ranges of technical tops and shorts for trail running and other aerobic sports. A fusion of merino wool and Tencel®, a fiber made from sustainably-produced wood, the new fabric keeps wearers cool, dry and comfortable on even the hottest days of summer.
  • An extended collection of merino shirts, pants, shorts, dresses and skirts for travel and the outdoors. Fabrics include merino canvas, for outdoor durability, and merino/cotton blends. Collection stand-outs include the Destiny skirt, dress and ¾ pants for women, and the hike-ready woven canvas Compass pants and shorts for men.
  • New nature-inspired prints for Icebreaker’s cool, lightweight, silky soft-tees. Prints range in style from photographs to graphic art to geometric patterns, and come in a wide range of styles, colors and textures.
  • A relaunched sock collection for runners, including a compression sock and a compression calf sleeve. There are new ultralight styles for running and for lifestyle.

Icebreaker merino is ideal for wearing in warmer weather because it regulates temperature, breathes to prevent overheating, is soft and non-itch against the skin, and resists odor.
