Icebreaker Welcomes Peter MacDonald to Canadian Sales Team

– Experienced outdoor sales representative will represent the growing merino apparel company in the Atlantic region –

Wellington, New Zealand and Vancouver, Canada (25 July 2011) – Peter MacDonald is joining the Canadian sales team for Icebreaker, the New Zealand company that pioneered the merino wool adventure apparel category. Beginning August 1, Peter’s agency, Soda Sales & Marketing, will be representing Icebreaker in the Atlantic region, which includes New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador.

“We are thrilled to welcome Peter to our team, and know that he will make a huge impact in the
Atlantic provinces, both at the sell-in and sell-through levels,” said Robbie Stevens, Director of Sales- Canada. “Drawing on his extensive expertise and connections, we know he will increase the strength of our existing dealer relationships, and will enable Icebreaker to continue to forge new ground in Canada as the leader in the merino category.”

MacDonald brings to Icebreaker six years of industry sales experience, with great working relationships in Icebreaker’s key markets: Outdoor Specialty, Snowsports, Run and Bike Specialty.

“Icebreaker is a perfect apparel option for the Atlantic Canadian climate. It performs great in both the cold of winter and the heat of summer,” said MacDonald. “I look forward to spreading the word about Icebreaker and increasing its presence in the territory even more.”

About Icebreaker
Launched in 1994, Icebreaker was the first company in the world to develop a merino fibre layering system for the outdoors. It was also the first outdoor apparel company in the world to source merino directly from growers, a system it began in 1997. The Icebreaker apparel system includes underwear, mid layer garments, outerwear, socks and accessories. There are outdoor, technical and lifestyle categories, each with its own specific fabrics and design details. Icebreaker is sold in more than 3,000 stores in 37 countries.

Based in Wellington, New Zealand, Icebreaker uses only pure merino handpicked from 140 high country stations in the country’s Southern Alps to create adventure clothing for women, men and kids that combines nature’s work with human technology and design. The company is committed to sustainability, ethical manufacturing and animal welfare. In 2008 the company launched “Icebreaker Baacode,” a pioneering supply chain transparency and traceability program. Each Icebreaker includes a unique Baacode, which enables customers to trace the garment online from rearing the sheep through to each stage of the supply chain process.
