Tulsa, Oklahoma (January 23, 2014) ICEdot, maker of the emergency ID and notification system, including the ICEdot Crash Sensor, today announced several updates and additions to be released in the coming week to extend the system’s capabilities and compatibility. Included is the addition that ICEdot is now compatible with the Android platform through Google’s Nexus phones.

The award-winning ICEdotCrash Sensor attaches to a helmet and uses a Bluetooth connection with the user’s phone to sound an alarm and notify predetermined emergency contacts to expedite a rescue when it senses the forces consistent with major head injury.

ICEdot will now include a simple tracking mechanism that allows the user to share their location via text message. With this new feature, a spouse, partner or friend can trace the route of the ICEdot user and determine their location by sending an SMS/text message. If the user is out of cell coverage, ICEdot will show the last known GPS coordinates. Users are able to control the tracking and can allow loved ones to track with a simple text message.

“As our user base rapidly expands, we’re excited to continue to improve the functionality of our system based on real-world feedback,” explains ICEdot CEO Chris Zenthoefer. “This tracking update can help someone find their loved ones if they don’t come home at a predetermined time. Even if someone has lost their mobile coverage, we can provide a place to begin the search.”

Another feature new for 2014 is a manual call for help button. Users will be able to access the ICEdot app and call for help in the event of a serious injury, even if they did not sustain a head injury serious enough to automatically trigger the call for help.
