Hero Cycles Ltd. Announces Plans to Enter the US Market
BOULDER, COLORADO, USA- Hero Cycles Ltd., the world’s largest integrated bicycle manufacturer, announces plans to enter the US market to supply high quality cost effective bikes in all cycling categories in North America.
Hero Cycles Ltd. is part of the $5 billion Hero Manufacturing Company. The company was started in 1956 by the Munjal family and today is one of the ten largest companies in India. The Munjal family still owns and operates the business today following the principles established many years ago by it’s four founders: synergy between technology, systems and human resources to provide products and services that meet the quality, performance, and price aspirations of the customers.
The focus of Hero’s North American efforts as stated by Mr. Pankaj Munjal, Co Chairman and Managing Director of Hero Cycles will be “to provide the North American bicycle market with products that capitalize on the financial and manufacturing strength that Hero offers their customers worldwide. Hero Cycles will work with retailers to identify market opportunities that allow the manufacturing giant to partner with all customers and provide products to satisfy their bicycle needs. Hero Cycles, as always, will remain customer focused and will continue to build strong relationships with their dealers. Hero Cycles long term plan will be to become a full line bike supplier to North America but the initial launch will be to focus on kids bikes, high value mountain bikes and Roadster bikes”.
North America operations will be led by Mr. Kevin Lamar. Mr. Lamar previously has served as President of Schwinn Cycling and Fitness. During his tenure at Schwinn, he revitalized the company introducing new categories, new ideas and new marketing strategies that propelled the company to once again becoming an international brand and market leader for the Independent Bicycle Dealer.
