Industrial Revolution, Inc, manufacturer and distributor of outdoor and lifestyle products, was named twenty-eighth on the Fastest-Growing Private Companies list by the Puget Sound Business Journal. Industrial Revolution was honored at an invitation-only awards event, along with the 99 other nominees and a total of over 500 attendees, at Qwest Field on Oct. 23. The 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies were listed, with select companies profiled, in a special publication of the Business Journal on Oct. 24.
To be eligible, companies must: be privately held and headquartered in Washington; have at least $500,000 in net revenue in 2005; show an overall growth from 2005 to 2007 fiscal years; and agree to have their CPA confirm their net operating revenues with Puget Sound Business Journal and accounting partner Grant Thornton.
With a compounded annual growth rate of 69%, Industrial Revolution has seen a 187% change in revenue from 2005 to 2007. 2007 revenue was $7.17M. This growth has occurred under the leadership of current owner and president, Keith Jackson. The company attributes its success to an outstanding line of brands and products from around the world and top-notch customer service.
Jackson initially purchased UCO Corporation and formed Industrial Revolution, Inc in 2005 to manufacture and distribute the UCO candle lantern line and the incredible new Play and Freeze Ice Cream Maker, a product like no other. IR’s products have grabbed the attention of consumers, appearing on dozens of television shows and in hundreds of publications.
Jackson also expanded the scope of Industrial Revolution by pursuing several European companies that were seeking North American distributors. The expansion of the corporation would be secondary to the primary goal of distributing high quality, outdoor-oriented products. Light My Fire from Sweden, Swiss Spice from Switzerland and Grilliput from the German company nuardis are the European brands currently distributed by Industrial Revolution.
After the ceremony, Jackson said, “I want to thank my incredible team of employees for all they’ve done. They’re the ones that make this happen and I’m honored to have the chance to work with them.â€
