Lausanne – The new LifeStraw® Steel personal water filter has won the prestigious ISPO Award for 2016/2017 in the Outdoor Category. The lightweight, durable stainless steel water filter removes bacteria and protozoa while also reducing chlorine, bad taste and odor. It was named as the Gold Winner in the Outdoor Category by ISPO, the internationally renowned sporting goods industry association.
LifeStraw Steel is lightweight, portable, chemical free and requires no electrical power or batteries. It features an advanced two-stage water filtration process including an activated carbon filter which traps chlorine and hollow fiber technology to stop pathogens, so only safe water passes through the mouthpiece. It’s ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, international travelers and socially-conscious consumers — for each LifeStraw purchased, one school child in rural Kenya receives safe water for an entire school year.
The ISPO Award is the quality seal of the world’s most important trade show for the sports business, taking place on 24-27 January 2016 in Munich, Germany. The jury of international sport business experts selected winners from hundreds of entries. Jury member Christine Waeber from bluesigntechnologies congratulates LifeStraw as “A practical and simple solution in a remarkable design and with a high social component, for a very important need.”
Alison Hill, Managing Director for the LifeStraw brand, said that, “Being recognized as the top outdoor brand by leaders in the sporting goods industry is such incredible validation.” Hill added that the company will “continue to innovate and introduce high quality, top performing LifeStraw filters and purifiers to meet safe water needs of outdoor enthusiasts.”
