Jack Wolfskin intends further expansion in China and has extended the contract for another five years with its current distribution partner, Tristate. That lays the foundation for future growth in China – a country that is today the second-most important for Jack Wolfskin.
The partnership between Jack Wolfskin and Tristate has existed since 2008 and has led to soaring development in the Chinese market for the brand Jack Wolfskin. In each of the last four years it has resulted in a doubling of wholesale turnover.
Meanwhile, there are more than 220 Jack Wolfskin stores and 45 retail partners in China. The product offering in the Chinese market consists essentially of the international collection of apparel, equipment and footwear, complemented with a few special market-specific styles. With all of that, the brand Jack Wolfskin has risen to No. 4 brand in the Chinese outdoor market and No. 3 amongst international brands.
“We are lucky to have found a highly professional partner in Tristate which has in the last few years developed the Chinese market with us,” stated Markus Bötsch, CSO Jack Wolfskin. “We naturally want to continue and further develop this successful partnership.”
The mutual goal is by 2015 to reach 600 Points of Sale. After 2013, Jack Wolfskin has the option to participate in a joint venture.
“The Chinese consumer loves the brand and the products. In just a short time, Jack Wolfskin has become one of the leading premium brands in China. We are excited to further develop this success story mutually with Jack Wolfskin,” stated Josh Perlman, Managing Director Branded Retail at Tristate.
