The latest kayaking athletes to join the roster of Team Jackson Kayak are renowned creek and expedition kayakers Jesse Coombs and Ben Stookesberry of Clear h2o Films.
According to Coombs, the partnership with Jackson kayak has four primary goals: Increase awareness and advocacy regarding river environmental and water quality issues, present and open new destinations for kayaking and travel, promote the sport of kayaking, and showcase the “safest, most capable creek boats†in the marketplace.
Coombs is an accomplished multi-sport, multi-season athlete and certified Search and Rescue team member. Stookesberry, an equally accomplished boater, is founder of Clear h20 Films. Both are known for pushing the boundaries of creek boating and expedition kayaking. They have pioneered first descents in remote locations throughout Central and South America and closer to home, in the Pacific Northwest. Since launching Clear h20, Stookesberry has co-produced and filmed five films including No Big Names 1 – 4 and Twitch 5. Two of the films were selected as finalists at the prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival.
According to Jackson Kayak founder, three-time world freestyle champ Eric “EJ†Jackson, besides undeniable boating skills and prowess as filmmakers, the positive attitudes and high fun quotient of Coombs and Stookesberry are consistent with Team JK values.
“Jesse and Ben are well respected boaters who share our environmental concerns, genuine love for rivers and make some of the best kayaking films in the industry,†Jackson said. “I’m sure they’ll help raise awareness that Jackson Kayak has a well-rounded stable of boats that perform well in all river situations from beginners just learning to have fun floating downriver with friends to world-class playboating and extreme creeking. Awesome!â€
