Jackson Kayak’s Star series of boats proved to be red hot during this spring’s series of major Western freestyle kayak competitions anchored by the Reno River Festival, Teva Mountain Games at Vail, and the US National Championships/US Team Trials held during the FIBArk Whitewater Festival in Salida, CO.
Jackson Kayak secured all but two of 14 available US Freestyle Kayak Team positions. The team will represent the US later this summer during the World Cup series. Following is the complete list of US Team members.

Depending on the size of the pilot, the Shooting Star, Star or All-Star, swept the podium in men’s pro events at Reno, Vail and FIBArk. In the women’s pro division, 18-year-old Emily Jackson took home the gold from each major, while JK teammate, reigning World and Canadian National Champion Ruth Gordon added a bronze at Reno and a silver at Vail.
In juniors, Jackson Kayak had an equally stellar Star record with Dane Jackson and his best friend Jason Craig taking first and second, respectively, at the Reno River Festival. Repeating the fete in the junior men’s division of US National Championships at FIBArk the 14-yer-old duo were joined by JK rider Jonathan Shales who took bronze. Lauren Burress was unopposed in her quest for junior women’s National Championship title. Team JK’s newest and youngest regional team member, Sage Donnelly, surfing her new Shooting Star, was the lone girl in the 10-kid cadet class event at FIBArk.
