Begun in 1983, JAG Manufacturing has supplied non-apparel, sewn products to nearly every kayak manufacturer and kayak accessories company in the United States and Canada.
JAG kayak sprayskirts have been a part of the official U.S. Olympic Kayak Team competition uniform since the 1984 Olympic Games.
The company also boasts numerous paddlesports related innovations and patents. Many of these have set new product standards within the industry.
In 1995 the company was recognized as Business of the Year by the Fulton County Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Nestled in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains from its humble beginnings as a home based business, the company is now headquartered at a 10,000 square foot facility surrounded by a 6-acre, campus-like setting.
To sustain growth and profitability, JAG has successfully expanded its business internationally by marketing its own brand of kayak “Seals
Sprayskirts.”
According to company president Joe Galea, in recent years the company’s branded program has been responsible for the business’s continued success.
While many of its competitors have taken production off shore, JAG continues to lead the market as a “Made in USA” producer.
It provides its private-label customer base with design expertise, quick production response and lower batch sizes that enable customers
to maintain lean inventories without sacrificing quality, on time delivery or profitability.
As part of the company’s plans for recognizing the quarter-century milestone, an “On the Water 25th Birthday Bash” is on tap for later this summer at Pine Lake, 20 minutes north of the company in the southern Adirondack Mountains.
