Japan Gore-Tex Inc Becomes Wholly Subsidary of WL Gore and Associates

W. L. Gore & Associates (Gore), the makers of products sold under the GORE-TEX®, WINDSTOPPER®, GORE BIKE WEAR® and GORE RUNNING WEAR™ brands, and Japan Gore-Tex Inc. (JGI) are pleased to announce that JGI has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Gore.

JGI was originally founded in 1974 as a joint venture with the main purpose of building upon Gore’s unique expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) technology in Japan. Over the last 35 years, JGI has grown as a contributor to the Gore group, building successful businesses in the Japanese market and adding significant innovations to Gore’s portfolio of intellectual property.

As Gore’s business has become more globalized, Gore and JGI saw benefits in integrating JGI more fully in Gore’s global operations. Aligning the two companies more closely will allow both to take this very successful 35-year relationship to the next level.

Gore expects, over time, that its business partners and consumers will realize the benefit of a more seamless collaboration between Gore and JGI. This should result in more effective service of customers and continued exciting product innovations that set the standard for comfort and protection in consumer apparel.
