PARK CITY, Utah — April 13, 2021 — Jaybird, a leader in wireless headphones for outdoor sports and fitness enthusiasts, announced its multi-year partnership with Justin Williams and L39ION of Los Angeles, the LA-based professional cycling team. Founded in 2019 by brothers Cory and Justin Williams, L39ION of Los Angeles is a pro UCI Continental cycling team with the goal of conquering all corners of the US criterium racing scene, all while improving their community by increasing diversity and inclusion in cycling.
Jaybird has partnered with 11-time US national champion, Justin Williams, and the L39ION team to support this cause through a donation to Major Motion Development, an initiative led by Williams that provides a welcoming, friendly and safe environment for children of all levels to pursue cycling as a sport.
Jaybird is also teaming up with L39ION on Zwift, the at-home cycling and running virtual training app, to host virtual community rides every month, starting today. For each Zwift Golden Hour Ride, one of L39ION’s Team Riders will share a curated playlist, showing off their favorite tracks and fostering a strong and supportive cycling community.
L39ION is redefining the sport of cycling by making it more accessible to younger riders and those who, for many reasons, haven’t been able to enter or experience the world of cycling for themselves. By assembling a team of diverse, elite cyclists, L39ION leads the next generation by example, showing them that they too can succeed in the sport and opening doorways to bring more diversity and talent into the community.
A force on and off of his bike, Williams has disrupted some of the biggest heavyweight competitors in cycling with more than 50 career wins at races all over the country. Jaybird has joined forces with L39ION to help support youth cycling and amplify the team’s motivational message.
L39ION of LA captain, Justin Williams explains, “As a team, our training schedule is rigorous and demanding. We spend long hours in the saddle and face unique training challenges pushing through long distance rides indoors. Music is a powerful tool that helps us not only finish our rides but break through to new levels of intensity and motivation. Jaybird is always there for us, providing the most durable and reliable earbuds to stay motivated and inspired with music. We’re excited to take our partnership with Jaybird to a new level to help elevate our message and make cycling accessible for more people.”
“Justin and the L39ION team are trailblazers in professional cycling, redefining the sport, and we’re so inspired by their work on and off of their bikes,” said Russell Nadel, Head of Partnerships at Jaybird. “We’re proud to partner with and support them in the amazing work they’re doing, bringing the adventures of cycling to more people.”
L39ION members use Jaybird VISTA earbuds to train because of their 16-hour battery life, sweatproof and dustproof features, and Custom EQ premium sound. They’re created specifically for athletes, helping the team push their limits, from indoor training to the road and beyond.
