Jetboil Helios Honored with Two "Gear of the Year" Awards

Jetboil®, the company that launched a revolution in outdoor cooking, is proud to announce that its new Helios group cooking system earned three significant awards to close 2008.

The Helios launched at retail in Spring, 2008 is known for its unique inverted fuel canister based system. The Helios is a liquid injected butane fuel system, which along with its design, creates consistently high output with no loss of performance in extreme conditions.

The Helios was selected as a Gear of the Year pick by both Men’s Journal and The Gear Junkie.

The December Issue of Men’s Journal featured their annual Gear of the Year picks. Men’s Journal praised the Helios performance, “During a tree-topping windstorm in the Cascades, the Helios stove brought 1.5 liters of water to a boil in less than three minutes … the Helios uses a liquid, which burns more efficiently and more completely.”

The Gear Junkie also awarded the Helios with a Top 10 Gear of the Year for 2008 award. The Gear Junkie noted “The Helios is an all-in-one kit – pot, stove and fuel pack together- perfect for campers in need of convince and high heat output.”

Great Outdoors.com, a website dedicated to outdoor adventure and travel, named the Jetboil Helios a “Staff Favorite” of 2008. Great Outdoors.com tested the Helios in the Wapta Traverse in the Canadian Rockies and Haute Route in the Alps, both considered to be some of the best high-altitude routes in the world. Product tester and copywriter Gordy Skoog wrote, “With a snap on windscreen and the snug fitting flux ring, this cooking system is a pleasure to use in a group situation.”
