Interactive web site enables next generation of snowboarders to measure “air time;” Record clickthroughs tallied for month of November

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (Dec. 15, 2006) – Tech 4 Oâ„¢, Johnson Outdoors’ line of electronic outdoor instrumentation measuring personal performance, is launching BigFreakyAir.com, its innovative marketing initiative that specifically targets snowboarding youths. BigFreakyAir.com is an interactive website that was designed specifically to showcase the AirPodâ„¢ air time measurement device. At www.BigFreakyAir.com, snowboarders can submit their “hang times” for evaluation from “Zack,” the site’s young, boarder host, watch videos of extreme air, and share with friends online.

BigFreakyAir.com is currently running banner ads on MySpace.com and is receiving a record amount of younger visitors to the site, via the MySpace link. The mini site has a younger look and feel, as well as a level of interactivity to which younger audiences can relate.

“The BigFreakyAir mini website is a new direction for Tech 4 O and Johnson Outdoors, appealing to a younger audience that lives virtually and uses the Internet as its main resource for product purchases,” said Josh Whitney, product manager for Tech 4 O. “This site enables Tech 4 O to broaden our outreach to consumers who represent our future.”

Visitors to the site are encouraged to share their personal air times to find out how they rank among other users. They can also virtually review the functionalities and format of the AirPod and easily find AirPod retailers.

Tech 4 O’s AirPod records air time by using advanced accelerometer technology to calculate the amount of time off the ground. The AirPod measures air time by jump and by day, cumulative lifetime air, and temperature. It also incorporates a jump counter and basic watch features including time, date and alarm. The AirPod was a winner of Popular Science’s “2006 Best of What’s New” Award and has teamed with Nevado Mountain Adventures for on-snow demos throughout the Northeast. AirPods retail for $99.99.
