Julbo, designer and manufacturer of leading-edge, protective eyewear and lens technology, will be providing guides and climbers from Alpine Ascents International with six pairs of its top of the line Explorer mountaineering sunglass for Alpine Ascents’ Mount Everest expedition set to depart March 24, 2009.
“Julbo wanted to provide Alpine Ascents with the highest quality sunglass lenses available for the Everest expedition,†said Nick Yardley, Julbo’s U.S. president. “The retro-styled Explorer mountaineering sunglass delivers state-of-the-art protection for anyone seeking the best protection in extreme conditions.â€
Alpine Ascents International guides and climbers leave the U.S. on March 24, 2009 and will begin the climbing expedition with a ten-day trek into base camp. After a few weeks spent acclimating and establishing higher camps, the team members (guides, climbers and amazing Sherpa crew) look forward to a summit bid mid to late May.
Alpine Ascents International is a premiere expedition guide service that leads trips all over the world, from Mount Rainier to the Himalayas to the Andes. National Geographic Magazine named Alpine Ascents one of the “Best Travel Companies on Earth†in February 2009. Additionally, Alpine Ascents is deeply committed to the environment by always employing Leave No Trace ethics and maintaining natural landscapes and ecosystems around the world.
International recognition for the optical quality of Julbo eyewear is due in part to its legacy beginning in 1888 as the first company to make sunglasses for high-altitude mountaineering and glacier exploration for European and U.S. markets.
The Explorer features moldable temples allow for supreme comfort and an adjustable fit. This mountaineering sunglass is available with three lens options: the polarized, photochromic and anti-fog Camel lens (made from NXT®); the glass Alti Arc 4 lens; and the Spectron 4 lens.
