January 20, 2009 (Wels, Austria) – As a tribute to its rich history, Kästle opens the first Kästle Mountain Museum. Perched at the top of Lech’s Rüfikopf II mountain station (2,350m), the museum is located in the heart of Austria’s Arlberg region and the birthplace of Kästle.

The museum documents the evolution of Kästle’s product innovations and winning skis from the past 84 years, starting with its birth in 1924, and concluding with 2007’s relaunch and current developments. The space features a detailed timeline of Kästle’s history, historic pictures, skis and Kästle ski footage. Some highlights of the exhibit are the original pair of Kästle race skis that belonged to Toni Sailer, the 1956 Winter Olympics three-time gold medalist, the touring skis of Reinhold Messner, renowned for making the first solo ascent of Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen, and the more recent pair of freeride skis used by Chris Davenport for his Ski the Fourteeners and Classics projects. In additional to ski memorabilia, the museum functions as an events space for social gatherings and parties, a place for the modern mountain enthusiast to come together.

“The opening of the museum is our attempt to bridge the past with the future,” states Siegfried Rumpfhuber, president of Kästle. “Kästle has been such a fixture of Austrian culture and by honoring Kästle’s rich heritage and fusing it with the present we hope to shows not only where Kästle has come from, but indicate where we plan on going.”

Also out for Kästle is the release its first Pro Team DVD. The “Comeback of the Year” DVD follows each of the Kästle athletes through their 2008 season with a fine selection of the purest snow, a sweet sound and a load of action. Featuring Hugo Harrisson, Chris Davenport, Sascha Schmid, Giulia Monego, Griffin Post, Martin McFly Winkler and special guest Willie Volckhausen.
