Lakewood, Colorado (March 23, 2016) — With temperatures rising and outdoor adventurers licking their chops, Katabatic Gear – the upstart producer of ultralight backpacking gear based in Lakewood, CO – is proud to introduce its Flex line of sleeping bags, featuring styles that can be used as a traditional quilt-style bag or opened into a blanket for better temperature regulation and added versatility.
The four bags, rated from 15 to 40 degrees, feature a zipper from foot to thigh and an open bottom under the torso area, in the usual quilt-style. However, the footbox can be fully unzipped so the bag opens into a blanket. This combination keeps the bags impossibly light while increasing the temperature range and versatility.
Katabatic has been receiving high praise on media outlets for the company’s outstanding combination of lightweight, functional, and durable design features. Katabatic’s Sawatch 15 (from the Elite line) was featured in this month’s Spring Gear Guide in Backpacker Magazine, snagging “Warmest Three-Season Quilt” honors.
“To be featured in the Backpacker Gear Guide is as good as it gets! It’s an honor that this industry leader recognized our company’s lightweight gear in their semi-annual round-up,” says founder Aaron Martray. “We think all backpackers can go lightweight with our products and thus have more fun on the trail. We’re confident the Flex bags will be just as well-received as the Elites – the same meticulous care and thoughtful design goes into this line, of course. They’re just so versatile and can handle such a wide range of temperatures and conditions.”
