Based in Montebelluna, Italy, Novation S.p.A. has been an original equipment manufacturer to the sporting goods industry for almost 40 years. In August 2005, the company purchased Kayland, a Italian brand of high performance mountaineering, backpacking, and hiking footwear. Since then, Kayland has taken over direct distribution in the US market through Planet Access Company, a 3rd party logistics services provider located just north of Chicago. The new subsidiary corporation will be operated out of the Planet Access Company facility.
“Regarding our Kayland business, since moving to direct distribution in the US, we’ve significantly improved our level of service to our dealer base, which is a primary component to the growth of our business,†said Brent Merriam, Vice President and COO of Novation N.A. “To truly understand the needs of the various clients and markets that we serve in North America, we realized that we needed a stronger presence in the US. The establishment of the US subsidiary is a clear sign of Novation’s commitment to better serve our client base in North America.â€
