As SNEWS® first reported in its January 19, 2006 story Event scores with Keen as footwear company opts for road less traveled Keen Footwear is teaming up with eVENT Fabrics to offer four new waterproof/breathable styles of footwear in their Fall 2006 collection. These styles will be designed using advanced technologies from eVENT Fabric that keep feet dry in wet, wintry conditions.
Recipient of the 2004 European Outdoor Award for Innovation, eVENT Fabrics will be found in the new Ochoco Waterproof, Targhee II and Targhee Mid II, and the Growler. These styles feature a Dry Venting Systemâ„¢ that allows sweat to pass directly through the fabric as vapor before it condenses into sweat. Where other waterproof/breathables breathe by a two-step process of moisture diffusion, eVENT Fabrics breathe via Direct Ventingâ„¢. Since there is no polyurethane layer covering the open-pore structure of the material or causing moisture to condense into it, perspiration vapor is free to pass directly through the fabric. This technology has proven to be superior based on tests of numerous branded and unbranded waterproof technologies to be the most efficient way to remove sweat and keep your feet dry and comfortable.
“Most waterproof/breathable technologies only focus on keeping the outside water out, not efficiently removing the internally generated moisture,†explains Bobbie Parisi, Vice President of Marketing at Keen Footwear. “We chose eVENT Fabric because it combines the perfect blend of waterproof attributes with venting, keeping the foot truly dry.â€
When Keen was founded in 2003 they made a promise to constantly innovate to make each new product line better than the last and also to always create products that perform for adventurous, active individuals. The new styles using eVENT Fabric are further evidence of their commitment to keeping their promises.
