KEEN Harvest IV Bag Collection Takes Flight at OR
Made from paraglider wings, each bag purchase will benefit the Cloudbase Foundation
Portland, OR – August 4, 2014 – Daypacks see so much each day traveling to work and school or hitting the trail, but the new KEEN Harvest IV Collection of packs and bags have literally flown over some of the most beautiful places in the world. The Harvest IV Collection is made of repurposed paragliding materials and manufactured in the USA.
Each, one-of-a-kind bag is created from decommissioned paraglider wings, donated by the Cloudbase Foundation, a non-profit made up of paraglider and hangglider pilots from around the world who are committed to giving back to the communities where they fly, including Honduras, Haiti, Nepal and more.
Each set of wings donated by the Cloudbase Foundation and the paragliding community provides enough material to create 30 to 40 bags. Inspired by origami design, the Harvest IV Collection is highly-water resistant, while reducing scraps. The new collection includes two new styles: a sling and daypack.
The Harvest IV Sling (MSRP $50) is a lightweight, cross-body sling with highly abrasion-resistant lining. Weighing only 0.7 pounds, the 7-liter bag is large enough for a tablet, phone, sweater and keys, and also features an internal divider.
The Harvest IV Daypack (MSRP $85) holds 23 liters and features an internal document sleeve that holds up to a 15-inch laptop and two external pockets for quick access to smaller items.
At Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, KEEN will create custom Harvest IV Daypacks, at KEENFest, across the street from the Salt Palace. KEEN will donate all proceeds from the sale of each daypack to the Cloudbase Foundation.
“The Cloudbase Foundation is thrilled to partner with KEEN on this unique initiative that truly helps to create opportunities on numerous levels in communities worldwide, funding education, water, urban gardening, and nutrition programs in Nepal, Haiti, and Honduras,” said Nick Greece, president of the Cloundbase Foundation.
