BOULDER, COLO. (May 1, 2017) – Kelty®, a leader in providing innovative adventure gear that is built to last, will partner with nonprofit Outdoor Women’s Alliance (OWA) for the month of May, donating 15% of sales from its Built for Women line on Kelty.com. Proceeds benefit OWA’s summer launch of its worldwide Grassroots Program that includes community engagement through regional activities, membership perks including VIP discounts and networking opportunities to meet like-minded outdoor enthusiasts.
Kelty’s Built for Women line of products is designed, tested and developed by women. The line incorporates women-specific designs, colorways and technical features and includes the women’s Coyote, Redcloud, Redwing, Reva and Sira packs and the women’s Callisto, Cosmic, Sine, Tru.Comfort and Tuck sleeping bags.
“Kelty is committed to designing gear specifically for women, whether they are outdoor weekend warriors or core devotees,” said Eric Greene, vice president of Kelty. “Women excel at sharing their passions for the outdoors and are ideal messengers for the benefits of outdoor activities – whether it be for the body or the soul. We couldn’t think of a better partner than OWA, whose specific mission is to engage, educate and empower females worldwide. This is a win-win.”
As a component of this partnership, OWA and Kelty will collaborate on a female-focused digital series on the brands’ blogs and social media channels, providing hiking and camping tips and ideas specific to female adventurists. Topics will include: safety tips for solo hiking/backpacking, hygiene in the backcountry and group trips – how to plan for adventure.
“Increasing women’s participation in the outdoors is an important part of our nonprofit’s mission,” said Gina Bégin, founder of Outdoor Women’s Alliance. “This includes working closely with like-minded organizations that are using their power to do the same. By partnering with Kelty in their Built for Women campaign, we create a larger combined reach, which increases the visibility of women’s know-how, independence and capability in outdoor endeavors.”
Outdoor Women’s Alliance® is a volunteer-run nonprofit media and adventure collective that engages, educates and empowers females worldwide. Through the lens of human-powered adventure, OWA works to inspire confidence and leadership in women of all ages, believing that confident women have the power to build healthy communities and change the world. OWA’s individual-focused programs assist aspiring outdoor industry professionals through a variety of internships, organizational leadership roles, professional mentorship and resumé-building experiences. OWA’s community-focused programs are served locally through grassroots teams and globally through collaborations with professional athletes, like-minded organizations, brands and online channels.
