SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH (August 7, 2006) – A springboard for outdoor adventures, Basecamp by Airstream will return to the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market show as a special guest of Kelty.
The Airstream Basecamp will be set up and open for visits outside the south entrance of the Salt Palace Convention Center, beginning Thursday, Aug. 10.
Inside the fully operational hybrid trailer will be selected items from the Kelty Basecamp collection – a line of creative on-the-go storage solutions being unveiled at the show. To see the full line of Kelty Basecamp items, showgoers are encouraged to visit the Kelty booth, #14001.
“The Basecamp by Airstream is an eye-catching bridge between the devoted backcountry crowd and the surging population of car campers,†said Kenny Ballard, president of Kelty. “We’re pleased to showcase this unique product to the outdoor community once again.â€
The Airstream Basecamp is a lightweight multi-purpose tent-trailer hybrid that is the result of a design partnership between Airstream Inc., Nissan Design America (NDA) and Kelty. Designed to be both affordable and versatile , the Basecamp was the brainchild of Nissan Design aces who envisioned a travel vehicle that would support a variety of outdoor adventures rather than recreate a living room on wheels.
The Basecamp reflects Airstream’s design heritage, taking styling and content cues from the original Airstream “Torpedo” of the 1930’s. And with the attached tent extension, engineered by Kelty, the Basecamp’s most unique feature provides a lightweight way to double the available living space.
With 20-inch wheels, wrap-around windows, a low profile stance, the BaseCamp can be towed by most conventional vehicles.
The base price for the Basecamp by Airstream starts at $19,995. Visit www.airstream.com for more details or call 937.596.6111.
Kelty’s Basecamp line is built around the new Binto system – a revolutionary storage system of interchangeable bins and totes. The nine-piece collection is led by the free-standing Binto Bar ($120) with its three stackable Binto cubes; the insulated and verstaile Fridge-a-Tote ($55); the stylish All-Tote ($45); and the Duo Pack ($70) which combines an insulated bottom compartment with a dry storage top.
KELTY is based in Boulder, Colorado, and uses the natural backdrop of the Rocky Mountains to test, create and continually innovate within their diverse outdoor product families of Light & Fast, Trail, and Base Camp gear. Kelty combines the best in new technology with a healthy dose of common sense to create exceptionally made, affordably priced outdoor products.
