Wellington, New Zealand – Icebreaker has teamed up with legendary adventure racer and best-selling author Steve Gurney at Summer Market Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City, Utah. Gurney, nine-time winner of the Coast to Coast adventure race which traverses the South Island of New Zealand, will lead early morning, butt-kicking workouts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the front entrance of the Sheraton Hotel at 150 West 500 South. He will also be on hand at the Icebreaker booth every day of the show from 10 am to noon to share his stories of his 20 years of adventure racing.

Icebreaker also welcomes Jennifer Jordan to its booth located in the Salt Palace at 34169. The award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter and author of The Last Man on the Mountain: The Death of an American Adventurer on K2, will be signing her books from noon to 2 pm on Saturday, August 6, 2011. Released by W. W. Norton in 2010, the book tells the story of Dudley Wolfe, the first man to die on K2 during the ill-fated 1939 expedition, whose remains Jordan found on the glacier below K2 sixty-three years after his death on the mountain. It won a 2010 National Outdoor Book Award for History/Biography. She is currently at work on a screenplay of the remarkable story.

The ripped half-man-half-merino Ramo will also be strutting in and around the booth. He’ll be available for photos throughout the show.

For those who want to get their hands on some real merino, Icebreaker is selling a men’s and a women’s limited edition shirt, while supplies last. Icebreaker will donate all money, not just profit, to the Conservation Alliance.

ABOUT ICEBREAKER
Launched in 1994, Icebreaker was the first company in the world to develop a merino fibre layering system for the outdoors. It was also the first outdoor apparel company in the world to source merino directly from growers, a system it began in 1997. There are now 20-25 distinct pure merino fabrics in the Icebreaker system, covering underwear, mid layer, and outerwear. Icebreaker is sold in more than 2,000 stores in 24 countries throughout Europe, Asia, Australasia and North America. Based in Wellington, New Zealand, Icebreaker uses only pure merino hand-picked from 120 high country stations in the country’s Southern Alps to create edgy outdoor clothing that combines nature’s work with human technology and design. The company is committed to sustainability, ethical manufacturing and animal welfare. In 2008 the company launched “Icebreaker Baacode,” a pioneering supply chain transparency and traceability program. Each Icebreaker includes a unique Baacode, which enables customers to trace the garment online from rearing the sheep through to each stage of the supply chain process.
