The ISPO organisation announced a new Award for the 2009 show, called the ECO RESPONSIBILITY AWARD. The categories were hardware, footwear, textile and accessories and a total of 4 companies (1 in each category) are about to be awarded only. The international Award is about the whole company working towards sustainability exemplified by a product.

After having received 6 international awards the last years mainly in the textile category (which is amazing itself…), we wanted to move focus and show what we have developed the last years on the hardware side as well. This year, we choose to compete with the worlds first backpack made of 100% recycled Nylon (fishing nets and carpets).

The Award was about not only about the specific product, GNÅ Backpack, but considered all aspects of Logistics, Production, Energy supply, Chemicals, Quality/Functionality, Company culture, Mobility and CSR. We are extremely proud that all of our work towards sustainability pays off like this.

Now, we are looking forward to ISPO and the final retailer reactions to our new projects.

Jury statement: Klättermusen pairs loving technical detail with a convincing sustainability concept in its GNÅ 35 Liter backpack. The benefits should be tangible for any discriminating buyer. The company’s holistic conceptualization of the product’s lifecycle is inspiring – from the conscientious selection of raw materials to a catchy recycling strategy.
