November 24, 2008 (Chico, Cali.) – Klean Kanteen®, one of the leading manufacturers of lightweight stainless steel water bottles, has partnered with the Breast Cancer Fund (BCF) to donate 20% of gross online sales of its “Pink Renewal†bottle until the end of the 2008 calendar year.
“We all know someone who has fought or is fighting this disease,†Klean Kanteen Director of Goodness, Michelle Kalberer stated. “The creation of the pink kanteen and this donation are our way of showing our support and that of our customers in a very tangible way.â€
According to the BCF, in 2008, a woman’s lifetime risk of breast cancer is one in eight. In response to this public health crisis, the Breast Cancer Fund identifies and advocates for elimination of environmental and other preventable causes of the disease. Founded in 1992, the Breast Cancer Fund works from the knowledge that breast cancer is not simply a personal tragedy, but a public health priority that demands action from all.
In addition to being an important catalyst for research and change, the Breast Cancer Fund’s website has become a leading source for comprehensive and accurate information about the disease and its causes. Among the BCF website resources is State of the Evidence 2008, a comprehensive report on the environmental exposures linked to increased breast cancer risk, including natural and synthetic estrogens, xenoestrogens and other endocrine-disrupting compounds, carcinogenic chemicals, and radiation.
Klean Kanteens were developed out of concern for the negative health and environmental impacts associated with the pervasiveness of plastic in our society/food chain. In addition to providing a healthy, long-lasting, peace-of-mind beverage container, Klean Kanteen is committed to supporting organizations such as the Breast Cancer Fund that work to identify and eliminate toxins from our lives.
So Go Pink in December and join Klean Kanteen and the Breast Cancer Fund to help fight the spread of breast cancer.
