Cambridge, Ontario, April 1, 2021 – Kodiak is taking its 110 years of boot-making expertise to the trails with the Skogan, a new premium hiking boot. The Skogan is the hero of Kodiak’s Spring 2021 collection, which features footwear built to both work and play hard.
“To create the Skogan we looked back in the Kodiak archives and took inspiration from hiking boots the brand made in the 1980’s,” said Karen McSorley, senior brand manager. “The Skogan has a decidedly retro look, but it’s a performance hiker with state-of-the art construction and an amazing fit. We also sourced recycled materials wherever we could to make the Skogan the most environmentally-considered shoe we’ve ever built.”
The Skogan features an upper with a mesh made from 75% recycled plastics, combined with full-grain, waterproof leathers made with a low impact tanning process. A lightweight, compression-molded EVA midsole and KODIAK® Comfortzone® ECO footbed keep feet dry and comfortable with minimal environmental impact. Finally, the Skogan includes Kodiak’s signature slip-resistant rubber outsole, linings made from 100% recycled plastics and shoelaces made from 50% recycled plastics. The Skogan is available in a mid (MSRP $155 USD/$170 CAN) and low cut (MSRP $140 USD/$150 CAN).
Also new for 2021 is the Carling, a stylish low-top sneaker for women that can be dressed up or down, but will always provide all-day comfort. Available in nubuck or a smooth, full-grain leather upper, the Carling includes detail stitching, a raw-edge suede tongue and a summer weight cotton lining. (MSRP $95 USD/$110 CAN). The men’s version is called the Arklan.
Another standout for women is the Low Rider V-Cut. Inspired by Kodiak’s best-selling Low Rider Original boot, the V-Cut is a modern, sleek silhouette in an easy, slip-on style. Lightweight and versatile, the V-Cut features a premium leather upper, a pre-molded foam insole and a slim, non-slip chevron rubber outsole,. (MSRP: $100 USD/$115 CAN.)
